Maggie Van Ostrand's columns and articles cover more topics than Washington has lobbyists. Each is listed below, with a descriptive blurb. We don't know what a blurb is, but Maggie thinks they may be useful here.
  • Jack Bauer
Killing Jack Bauer doesn't make him dead, it just makes him angry.
  • Jack Bauer: 24's 007
Friends have been trying to get me to watch "24" since it appeared on national television five seasons ago. I resisted. Pressure rose. Still I resisted. Three weeks ago, I could hold out no longer and, assigning my friends financial responsibility if I didn't like it, I bought Series 1-4 on DVD and sat down in front of my TV to prove a point. The point proved over the next three weeks was not mine, it was theirs.
  • Jack Bauer
How can Jack Bauer be fictional when the venerable Wall Street Journal writes about him, the National Terror Alert Response Center of Homeland Security, writes about him, and so do the Christian Science Monitor, Esquire magazine, and the New York Times. Maybe he's not fictional.
  • Super Bowl 2007
It doesn't take a genius to understand why the Super Bowl is so popular every year. At first, I thought solely men and maybe a few sheanderthals were the only people who watched, but very feminine women can learn a lot from this big game.
  • Weird Dude
I'd like to meet the sadist who invented the childproof cap.
  • Peeps
Ah yes, comfort food. We're talkin' mashed potatoes and gravy, Mallomars, potato chips and meatloaf. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But for me my friends, it’s the time of year where new dimensions will be reached to the very definition of the word “comfort.”
  • Yanking Karla
Canada's Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka were the Ken and Barbie of Killers.
  • Are Amputees Getting Sexier, Or Is It My Imagination?
Is it becoming quite acceptable, even fashionable, in the 21st Century to be without a limb? One look at the Canadian Amputee Hockey Team and 2003 World Gold Medal Champions, should be a clue.
  • Terrorists in Bras
If the civilized world is serious about learning secret plans of suspected terrorists imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay or elsewhere, they should listen to women, who know how to torture way better than the Spanish Inquisition. Ask any divorced guy.
  • Adolph Hitler Awarded Nobel Peace Prize
It has just been announced by a spokesperson for the Nobel Prize Committee, that the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize is to be awarded posthumously to Adolph Hitler, Austrian-born leader of the German state, and head Nazi dude of the 30s and 40s.
